Hi guys
Im a bit stuck on this one. My bf wants to start eating breakfast but has no access to fridge or a cooker, he may have a toaster but dont quote me on that-lets assume he doesnt!
What can you suggest for breakfast? He is possibly open to the idea of fruit and loves nuts and dried fruit, is there maybe a good healthy combination of these?
He loves cereal but is fussy about milk, I cant think of a way he can keep this cold but if you can by all means suggest away!
Thanks

Scrambled eggs on toast? (eggs don't need to be kept in fridge - just in a coolish room/cupboard).
Edit - sorry just seen your post about no cooker either - what about nuitrigrain bar type things?
What about rice milk/soya milk/longlife milk? Or powdered milk?
Not sure if a cool bag would work with no ice blocksworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Can you make ready brek or porridge with only kettle water? I know you can make porridge with water in microwaveworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Porridge with water is fine texture-wise but bland. I know people who are very happy to add fresh or dried fruit and nuts to it to flavour it.0

Hmm, could he make up half a pint of milk with Marvel and add it to porridge in the microwave? (don't those Oatso Simple things have dried milk in?). I use reconstituted skimmed milk quite a lot when I run out of the real thing, it's fine in cooking. And if he made up a small quantity then he wouldn't need a fridge to store it in.

Tinned or fresh grapefruit with some blueberries (very good for digestion and to kick start metabolism?)
Bread and honey?
Bagels (toasted if he has a toaster?)
Coissants with jam (sp?)Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I used to share a flat with a vile, disgusting grubby bloke who never kept the kitchen clean:eek:. As a woman he thought it should be my job to do it so it became a battle of wills:mad:!
I eventually bought myself a toaster and a set of toaster bags to use in my bedroom!!!! They are fab teflon type bags that as the name suggests you put them into the toaster. They are designed to cook eggs, beans etc in the toaster!
They were brilliant and stopped me from starving! I think you can get them from places like lakeland, betterware etc and don't quote me on it but I think I might have seen some in Pound shops!
(and just in case anyone was wondering - I didn't back down and clean his mess up - I just moved out!!!:rotfl:)
Edit: Oops! Just re read original post that says he doesn't have a toaster! Sorry! Ignore me then! Could he get a toaster? Only about £4 from supermarkets!Joined SW 24/02/2011 :j71lb/28.5lb-6, -2.5, -2, -1, -2 -, -2 sow, +3(holiday), -5.5 (*) +0.5, +1, -4, -0.5(*), -3(10%!!) +0.5, -3, -1, -1(2st:j)

Muesli is the obvious choice here, home made is even better. No cooking required
Milk, keep it OS like your granny did.
Stand in bowl / jug of cold tap water. Cover with damp cloth that hangs into the water. The water will evaporate & keep the milk cooler. Not as cold as a fridge but OK for overnight. And if he has a stone or tiled floor, stand it on that as well
Dont buy loads of milk, fresh every day is the trick here, especially in this weatherEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
There is a chain of expensive sandwich shops (EAT) that sell something like the following. The ingredients are porridge oats, applie juice, low fat blackberry yoghurt and blackberries. It costs £1.80 and I bought in one morning as an emergency breakfast.
I experimented with the list of the ingredients and made my own. The trick is not to use too much juice as it goes a bit gloopy, but tastes nice nonetheless.
Soak some porrige overnight with a little apple juice (long life). It's not meant to be runny. Add a couple of spoonfulls of long live yoghurt (I use Alpro soya longlife) and a handful of fruit. My favourite has been mixed berry yoghurt and fresh blueberries.LBM 10 JUNE 07June 07 - £68K May 08 apx £57K MORTGAGE £212KJune Grocery Challenge - Budget £445 Actual £17.40PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS0 -
I have been without a fridge in the past and as previous poster has said milk can be kept in bowl of cold water, in my case for 3 days and if he is eating cereal every day he should get the milk finished before it turns. For vatiety he should add fruit to his 'flakes' and if he has a kettle then boiled eggs for brekkie are the business.0
