I just wanted to say thanks so much to all of you who seem to be experts in this area. I received a PCN yesterday as had overstayed while shopping at a retail park. I read all the notes and advice to newbies and was getting ready to write off to Parking Eye, but then followed the first piece of advice: to contact the store.
I was shopping at Asda in another county during half term and had receipts but wasn't local - hence not really being familiar with parking eye! Anyway, I contacted the store directly by phone, explained the situation and gave them the receipt details. They phoned straight back to say they would remove the charge.
Deeply grateful to all the advice and considerable time people have taken on this forum to stop this parking racket.
Good luck everyone with your appeals and just very grateful I managed to resolve mine.

Just to note - it ain't over until PE confirm it is over.0

expect a nice letter saying they have incurred charges , but will let you off if you pay them about £30
save the letter from asda , guard it with your life or email asda to send you one ,0 -
ParkingEye and Asda? Not the normal axis. Smart Parking and Asda the usual combo.
And PE seem to have rolled over a bit easily; more like a Smart Parking silent acquiescence.
Not doubting you OP, but PE and Asda don't usually mix. Whereabouts? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

There have been a few instances of ASDA and PE reported. It seems a quite recent thing, for the newer stores or where Smart's contract has expired.0

It is a fairly new shop according to my friend who we were visiting in Maidstone. Not food, was called Asda living. Definitely parking eye on the 'invoice'.
I really hope it is an end to it...I was all optimistic until I read the first replies to my post.
Still very grateful to you all and fingers crossed!0 -
PE will most properbly ignore the cancellation, they will do there very best to make you cave in and fill up there grubby bank account, DONT give in, follow the best advice on here and beat the scummy jockstraps. :money:PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0

with parking eyes turnover and profit reducing year after year , and the worry of mounting court costs (bevis case) plus the fact that every time they win in court they actually loose money, time must be running out with CAPITA
was,nt part of the buy , 50% then , and the further 50% after a look at the turnover/profit after a set time
they cannot be anywhere near there projected figure.0 -
To be fair to PE, they are relatively 'professional' in dealing with cases where the landowner cancels, and they are 'good' at writing to say 'charge cancelled'.
But you do need to get this to be sure that's the end of things (if you get that, make sure you keep it and file it safely - for up to 6 years).
Keep us informed as to progress, as this gives us up-to-date intelligence as to how PPCs are dealing with this stuff - to help other newbies. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum.
