We get about another £130000 in other benefits,

I think that one really is a typo - if not, you can't complain when people say you get a lot of money from the state!

The rates you're quoting look fine to me. You might be able to get slightly lower, but as Thrugelmir says the lower rates will come along with product fees/valuations etc. By all means look around, but I suspect you'll find you can't save much if anything.

Thank you for stating the obvious, I'm not complaining and wouldn't change my life for anyone, but i also wouldn't wish it upon anyone, my partner has a short life expectancy, takes hundreds of drugs every week, lives with some very cruel and real illnesses daily and can struggle with some very basic tasks, he has lived with this for his entire life and it will only get worse as he gets older.
My son, struggles to communicate, he struggles to be a normal 4 year old and he also struggles in daily life, we get what we are entitled to and we save it hard to protect our childrens future, we don't have holidays, flash cars, designer clothes. All of our money goes into our house to make sure our children will have something when we are not here anymore.

So no I'm not complaining at all, we are extremely grateful for what we get and are under no illusion that it will last for ever so we don't want to waste it. We want to get our mortgage paid off ASAP and enjoy our uncertain future.

Thank you all for your help

    I'm a saver not a spender.

I think you misunderstood me. You said you got one hundred and thirty thousand pounds a year in other benefits - and I said I thought that was a typo!
