Hi
I worked for RBS for 11 months in 2012 and left, i had a contributory pension scheme for that period and recently i was looking to see why i had't received any statement etc from them regarding my pension. i then called them to ask and was told that i didn't have any as they wrote to me in 2012 to ask what i wanted to do with my pension 2 options transfer it or loose it but since i didn't reply its gone.
i never got the letter as i would never ignore my pension money no matter how small but i'm not sure if they can do this any advise?
Thanks

If you left in "a controlled manner" then did you not get a "leaving pack"?
They should have written to you pretty quickly about the pension scheme - you didnt move, did you?
They probably would have assumed that you knew that you had to make that decision on leaving. Since you cannot really prove that you didnt receive the letter I don't really see what you can do?0 -
i see what you mean, however i did leave in a controlled manner, my contract came to an end and i got a letter advising that it wasn't going to be renewed but nothing to explain what will happen next. and no i didn't move home but i had a baby in the year.
i have written to them that i didn't get the letter and would definitely not ignore such money especially in this day and age when money is scarce and hope that we are able to resolve this amicably.
i wouldn't want to believe that all short term contractors with the RBS would loose their pension though. i'm really upset and troubled knowing that i might have lost my money. i have pension with another company i contracted with for 1 year and i have all my pension with the company intact why should this be different with the RBS?0
