between jobs......

I've got a £2000 overdraft, and I've now lost my job as a window tinter. I have £600 rent to pay in just over a week's time. There is work for me down at the docks tinting new cars, which is sub-contracted and very well paid (£1000+pw), but - I have no car to get there, I'd need a few hundred quid for tools, and I wouldn't see any money until the end of the month (i think - maybe longer).

I went to my bank to get a loan, but I couldn't get one as I'm not actually employed.

I could get a loan from the prince's trust, but that would take a while and I need the money NOW, not in a month.

Is there anywhere I can borrow a few grand from?

Cheers

unfortunately, if you are unemployed, then getting a loan will be nigh on impossible.

Do you have family or friends who could help? Could you get a lift or use public transport to get to the docks? Are there second hand tools available anywhere, or is it possible to hire them?

If you can get a lift or use the bus then you only need the money for the tools. Is there anything you can quickly ebay (games/CD's) to raise some money?

Try google-ing carshares, there may be someone who goes near the docks or to them. Are you registered with the Job Centre? Sometimes they will lend money for essential work equipment if it means you'll get a job. Can anyone lend you the tools you need or a car? How about a Car Club (google again)?
Have you looked at a Credit Union?
