The code has been like this since I came back from a career break but HMRC is getting it sorted now

Thanks for putting me right on tax relief.
I thought if I had paid a lump sum of @12000 I would have got tax relief on it all back from HMRC not just part of it

    So when was that?

The reason I am asking is if it also was used in tax year 2013/14, then you will need to claim that back too as that won't be covered with a change to this year's tax code.

What are your gross earnings for this year? The post linked to by xylophone suggests you earn £30k. if that's the case then a lump sum of £12,000 should give you basic rate tax relief on all of it as I very much doubt your normal pension contributions are in excess of £8k.

However an earlier post said you earn £1545 gross pm which is £18,540. So can you clarify please? It's difficult to help you otherwise.

I got the tax sent back to me from HMRC last year.

My full time post salary (used when calculating my pension) is @30000 but as I now work part time my gross salary per month is @ 1545
