Very/Littlewood's Catalogue Debt won't stop interest

Hi I wonder if some one with a similar experience with very or knowledge can help me. I am doing a self managed DMP with NEDCAB and everyone has stopped or reduced the interest except for very. They have advised that they will initially allow a 3 month plan of the proposed payment but there is no way they can stop the interest. I initially called them and the girl I spoke to kept advising I go through step change?. The amount i have offered would not cover the interest. I also have a number of late charges at £12.00 a go and 2 x £12 for there collection dept calling me and 1 x £12 letter from there collection department.

Hi,
Familiar story from shop direct group unfortunately, lots of people have the same problem with them.
Only thing you can really do is stop paying them, hang on, there is method in my madness.
Non payment will mean your account goes to there " in house" collectors, NDR payments, who are just as useless as very.
If you ignore them, then next step would be for them to sell on the debt, you should then be able to negotiate a better deal with the DCA that picks it up, plus, no more interest or charges.
Only sure way to deal with them unfortunatly !!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks for your reply. I have offered a payment of £90 first payment 29th March and 28 days thereafter. Do I make a token payment if I go down this route or just stop payments full stop?. Has anyone contacted the FOS and been successful in stopping interest. If I stop payments altogether I assuming they will default me.
Many Thanks0 -

Well I normally would not advocate stopping payment, and you will get a default most likley.
You can go down the written complaint route, which would end up with the FOS no doubt, but that would take time, with no guarantee of success.
You can take matters into your own hands and go the non payment route, that will eventually work for you, but in the end it's up to you to decide, shop direct are notorious for not stopping interest, and been generally awkward at agreeing repayment plans.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. They just seem crazy in there method everyone else has agreed some more difficult than others. I'm also not happy that they don't seem to acknowledge NEDCAB Self managed DMP's and was persistent in telling me that I needed to contact Stepchange. I assuming with Stepchange the interest would still continue.0

Yes, most likley, they can be "very" difficult to deal with, pardon the pun ☺️.
I dealt with a Kay's account on behalf of someone, I found the only way to deal with them was to stop paying, allow the debt to be sold on, then make arrangements with Lowell, who picked it up.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thanks so much for your responses it's great to get some advice, I think my fear is I just don't want a CCJ I really don't want to go down this route. Would they definitely sell the debt or could they actually just issue a CCJ direct to me themselves?0

Very unlikely, they can't take everyone to court, as the system would collapse overnight.
In order to answer this properly, you need to understand the debt collection process, creditors will attempt to get payment out of you for around 60 days or so, if you don't pay, it's passed to in house collections, if still no payment, with catalogue accounts, they usually get sold on within 3 months or so.
The new DCA. Will then attempt to get you to pay up, this can go on for a fair few months, if you still don't pay, they either give up, and move on to the next target, or, if they think legal action would get a result, they may go for that.
You will not risk a CCJ for a fair while down the process, and they have to warn you in writing first anyway, that's called the pre-action protocol, so it does not happen overnight.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Very have a collections dept, the next step is NDR payments, who are the " in house" collectors for shop direct group.
Different name, but basically same company, just as intransigent as collections have been.
Next step after NDR is for debt to be sold on, that's the point interest will stop.
If you want a permanent solution then that's the way to go.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Big thanks guess I have till the 20th of March to make a decision. I am going to complain to the FOS regardless. Very are a bunch of pirates. Seems pointless in me trying to be decent in an attempt to resolve my debt when the end result will mean it increases due to them not stopping interest.0
