Arrangement to pay

Hi there,

I've been working pretty hard on getting my credit file a bit healthier over the last 4 years, and have been doing quite well. However, just before Christmas TSB removed my £2000 overdraft without giving me any notice. When I discovered this I called them up and after some arguing the call operator offered me a payment plan. I initially refused, explaining I was worried for the impact on my credit file. He said it wouldn't make much of an impact at all. I therefore agreed to the gradual reduction in my overdraft and to pay a monthly fee into the account. My other option was to get a loan, which I got the agreement for, but after entering into this plan decided not to go ahead with the loan.

I received an equifax credit alert yesterday to inform me that TSB have put an arrangement to pay on my account. I feel really stupid now for not just taking out the loan while I could have done so, and feel like this has undone all my hard work over the last 4 years in sorting out my credit file.

Is there anything I can do? I feel strongly that I was given the wrong advice, and therefore this is unfair. Is the bank unlikely to see it this way though? Would there be any point in going to the ombudsman? Or is this entirely my own error.

    Ask them for a recording of your conversation with them and once you have it hit them with a complaint.

    Send them a complaint, in writing, raising your concerns about what you were told and if you had realised this you would have taken the loan.

    If they refuse, take to FOS.
