Feeling Low

Am in a pickle for the first time in 8 months. Decided to take up a permanent position where I work, as I felt that remaining on an agency contract would not be secure once they had recruited all their perm staff. Major mistake (oh I'm so good at those!). I found out all too late that the overtime/ sleep in allowance that we get is paid a month in arrears, (ie all of July's at the end of August) and then the HR dept didn't tell me that I have to opt out of the pension, so they took £86 off me on payday. I can't afford a pension cos I can only just afford to live now! Consequently I ma £65 short of what I need for this month and panicking. Add to that the fact that teh last shift I worked was horrendous, and meant that in 38 hrs I got 1.5 hrs sleep. and I am dreading going in to work at 2.30pm. Feel very weepy and unsure how to cope. On the upside I have an interview on Tuesday for a much better paid job, but have to find £20 petrol money to get to that too. Sorrry, just needed to talk about this.

What is important to you more than anything else is to get some sleep. If you are not at work until 2.30, put your alarm on, put your head down and shut your eyes for a couple of hours. your health is far more important than any shortfall in income etc.

Good luck for the job interview on Tuesday. you will find a way through this, but do look after yourself xx

HI Joe, sending you hugs. Have you signed up to some of the click through cashback sites? and have you anything you can put on ebay that would see you through in the short term? Have another word with HR, they should have fully explained the pension to you.

Ok thanks, I have just rung HR and they have agreed that I can opt out until my wages are more stable, and will refund what they took in July in the August pay, so thanks for that prompt unixgirluk. ometimes you can't see the wood for the trees yourself can you?
Hypno, I have managed to catch up on some sleep, but I have my 10yr old with me till I go to work today so can't go back to bed this morning. You're so right tho, it is having an effect on my health as I have a health condition that is exacerbated by stress and tiredness, and my GP has told me that he can't help me any more till I change my job! I am so worried that the same thing will happen again tonight at work that it is making me stress a lot, as I would not cope with the lack of sleep again this week.
Have decided I will car boot on Sat 11/08 as I have a day off and as long as the weather holds this should raise at least some of the extra that I need towrds the end of the month.
    Thanks guys. ***HUGS***

Take care Joe. Let us know how the car boot goes. Take a big golf umbrella or some tarpaulin so if it rains you're prepared and you can still sell your stuff and people can browse without getting too wet! Even if you can't go back to bed now why not just put your feet up and rest with a cuppa?

Have you thought about trying to do something to help relax you? I often find going for a walk to feed the ducks is one of my favourite wind downs. I think especially if your health gets worse when you are stressed that you definatly need to make time for relaxation, whether thats yoga, a bubble bath, a walk or whatever!

Good luck with everything and try to keep smiling-I know thats easier said than done!
