Hi,

Son is looking for a wireless headset for his xbox one for his Birthday.

Can Anyone make any recommendations for a decent set up for a decent price. Ideally looking at £50 or less

Thanks

Chances are you'll struggle with that sort of budget, not saying you wont find one, but it'll be difficult to get a decent one. The afterglows seem to be around the cheapest wireless ones but dunno about their quality, perhaps more style over substance. Other sore part with those would be simple logic, wireless would mean either batteries or charging them & well, given they are lit up suggests battery life would be ropey. Also I'd say they'll at best be connected to the controller, but that's just a bug bear for me as wireless should be wireless as in 0 wires for normal operation!

Read the description carefully & you'll see one key thing - requires a seperate adapter, commonly £19.99 at retail. To me it looked cheap & I hadn't heard the name before & upon looking at it closer that piece of information just confirms it. The reputable names all include that in their package, albeit their own version of it, but it's still included all the same. Also at the risk of sounding a bit of a snob, it's not designed for Xbox 1, it's designed as a cover all, hence you don't get the part to connect it to the controller - that rings all sort of alarm bells with me.

You can use it via kinect, but at that point you gotta ask if you're getting the best value for money - if I was still in games retail I would strongly advise against.

I bought the official ones which admittedly need a cable to connect to the controller but wireless to the console:

They seem to do the job well, quality is reasonable and no problems with the mic. It plugs into the stereo adapter separately (£20 part on its own) so if you want to change the headphones down the line you can quite easily do so.
