Food intolerance test

Hi
I was wondering if any of you had an food intolerance test and would you recommend it. I've seen some online tests for about £55 but not sure ( they check your hair). Thanks

The only proper and true test for food intolerances is an elimination diet - which can be a long process of cutting out lots of foods and seeing if you get better, then reintroducing foods one by one. Knowing that, I did a lot of research a couple of years back and decided that for me the IgG blood test was worth trying and I am glad I had it. For me, what the blood test did was give a much reduced list of suspects to do a more limited and convenient elimination test on. The test didn't identify one food I have known for decades I react to if I have too much, confirmed a mild reaction I had been suspicious about and highlighted one food I had no suspicion was an issue, but which I feel vastly better when I avoid. For me, that was worth it - I was confident I wouldn't cut food out of my diet if I didn't feel better, just because the test said so, I had been to see my doctor repeatedly who couldn't find anything, and if I managed to trigger the placebo effect that would be just fine as I would be feeling better.

There are different antibody reactions possible to foods such as IgE or IgG and it all occurs because of hyper permeability of the digestive system which ideally should not be present. Food should be broken down into tiny molecules such as amino acids before being absorbed, it's when there is increased permeability which allows larger food molecules such as larger proteins to be absorbed before being broken down/digested that antibody reactions and problems occur.

In the next 10 years I think much more will be known about the cause and treatments should be possible to eliminate the problem. Not easy believe me because I know why it happens and how difficult it is to defeat especially with resistance from certain companies making it incredibly difficult.

From what I've heard, it's little more than quackery. Don't waste your money.
  • They're a scam. This is a very short report from Which. Well worth reading.
