Shopitize

Options
Hello,

So i wont go into the history here bt i have come clean as to my hidden debts and how they were resolved and shown them YNAB, Shopitize and all the other good work that I have been doing. They commented that they had seen me change behaviour to money and so i think this and the new regime thats been put in place softened the blow. A few tense moments as it sunk in but all together now closer than ever. Dont know if I am just very lucky but what a different house it is now with everyone a bit closer togethre.

Anyway...........Shopitize - just interested in actual experiences. To be honest the brands that we buy now feature a lot on it, and it seems like there is a saving of 25p to £1.50 on every item - that surely must be some saving.

I am doing a big weekly shop tomorrow and i dont know if getting money off on the premium brands in ainsburys is better than just dropping a brand in the first place.

I am gong to do the maths on a shopping list to see online but just wondered if anyone on here uses it and has a positive experience.

Thanks

I don't use it but I recently did a shop in sainsburys, their value range is a bit more expensive than other supermarkets but was really impressed with the quality, really nice and most items considerly nicer than other value items I've tried xx

You just need to do your research and calculations first and make sure the items are things that you usually buy and aren't more expensive than a different brand with the cashback.

I went to tes co yesterday and Jamie dodgers were 45p and then shopitize cashback of 30p making them 15p. However Tes co own brand were 49p. Milk is on shopitize a lot which is good for me. Also, me and my partner love ben & jerrys ice cream but we never buy it because it's too expensive but this week it is £2.24 in tes co with £1.70 shopitize cashback making it just 54p however I wouldn't have bought it if it was full price.

I used to love the post that someone (Karin or similar) had on Hot Deals UK every week, but they have stopped him/her posting the weekly deals. Does anyone have a link to a similar thing where someone can point out where the best deals are to be had taking into account the supermarket deals? I don't have time to check every deal on every supermarket's website and sometimes mysupermarket isn't totally up to date.

All 'lower' level brands are the same as 'brands' made in the same factory to largely the same recipe. You are paying a stupid premium for buying an item with a name on the box.

Greater savings are to be had by removing all 'brands' from your shopping full stop. If it comes in a packet, it doesnt get bought. Buy fresh food from local suppliers and there are even bigger savings to be had. My local butcher is invariably cheaper than the main chain supermarkets and there is no contest with the local market for fresh veg. If you must buy a 'branded' packet item, then go to a budget supplier like Aldi who will happily sell you a good equivalent for half the price of the main supermarket.

Read a 'Shopped' by Joanna Blythman and free yourself from the supermarket for good (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shopped-Shocking-Power-British-Supermarkets/dp/0007158041/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1427281182&sr=8-4&keywords=joanna+blythman). And when you've read that, read 'Swallow this' by the same author and prepare to be horrified by that packet of Doritos you were munching on.

Thanks so much BOB. I honestly didn't realise there was the whole list if I click on the first bit. I kept looking at it and thinking they only put on a couple of them. DUH!

I've only used shopitize, when something on there is on offer too, making it considerably cheaper for premium brands. but you have to wait til a fiver or something for payout, so not really worth it for me! Id rather shop at lidls!
