Opticians made mistake and won't refund

Options
My partner had an eye test in September 2014 and was prescribed new lenses. The optician said she could not have the single vision lenses fitted in her old frames therefore she chose some new ones.

When she received the new glasses, in october, she was not happy with them as she could not see over 6 feet away. The optician kept sending them back to the lab but the situation did not
improve, eventually in February 2015 they agreed to a retest and found that glasses were not required.

They now say that as it is now so long since the glasses were delivered they will not refund anything.

The glasses have been in their possession more than my partner's but they think it is acceptable to sell a faulty product, not resolve the problems and then refuse to refund the £320 paid, I wish I could have used the same business model with my customers.

Who do we complain to?

How did your partner pay for the glasses? If by credit card then you can make a Section 75 claim against the credit card provider because they are jointly and severally liable for the contract.

At the end of day, if you think someone owes you money and won't pay the recourse if to sue through a money claim.

Note that the website in post #2 seems to just be a firm of solicitors.

You're right it is a firm of solicitors, but they have been contracted by the General Optical Council to be an impartial intermediatary.
Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.
