good hairdresser in London? Help please?

Anyone know a good inexpensive hairdresser in London (for men), possibly for £20 or less?
I just need a great cut, not highlights, grooming or fancy stuff. Got a haircut at Splash 2 weeks ago and it already looks a bit bad (side hair has grown too much compared to the top etc). Toni and Guy is great but £40 a month just for hair is a bit steep for me

Thank you for your help

How about Vidal Sasson Training Academy in Davies Mews, Wl just by Bond Street Station. They always want models for their students. Well under £20. They have students on all levels of their courses. Often the students are already qualified hairdressers wanting to get the Vidal Sasson Academy Certificate to better their career worldwide. I used to go their regularly for years when I lived in London.

Yeah I know but it’s only midweek (when I’m at work) and it takes 2 hours or something like that, not very convenient

Be careful with these- the answer to the ominous question "are you open to change?" if you still want your hair cut is "yes". Be prepared for a very fashion forward but perhaps not so blend-into-the-crowd look! I used to do this a lot as a student- I had the Rihanna cut about 10 years before it was trendy (a number 2 shave one side long the other...) I passed it off as I was an art student at the time and the more unique you look the better you seem to fit! But it wasn't for the faint hearted- make sure your happy with what they suggest before they start.

Toni and Guy have an academy the other end of Oxford Street. It is normally around the £5 or £10 mark for a cut, £20+ for a colour and you need to queue for a first come basis at either 9am or 1:30pm (to memory) they do a decent job, nothing too different and they tend to have a few cuts they need to practice on as students (they show you pictures first) but they do a very good job.

There are other salon schools around where you can ask if they're looking for students, places like Sanrizz and Saks and some times salons around you will put up notices requesting models for cuts and or colours. The prices tend to be cheaper but are rarely free.

    Other than this, try GumTree.

If you're not so bothered about price though and are just looking for a word of mouth reputable salon I can recommend Toni and Guy as a generally good place to go- if I could afford to go anywhere I'd probably opt for here as a safe bet.

I used to have my hair cut at the local college. One time it was the girls first haircut and it took 3 hours !!!!!
I decided if wasn't worth my time.
