I am owed money by a ex friend but cannot afford to live. I cannot afford the fees to use money claim online. I feel angry at myself for lending the money to him. I need the money but cannot do anything about it.

First rule NEVER EVER lend money to family and friends0

I know I have learnt that the hard way.0

Sadly, this is an all to common story. I myself have foolishly lent £3000 to a 'close' friend only to observe the promised payments never to materialise. I guess it must work occasionally, but the old adage "neither lender nor borrower be" usually applies and for just this reason. It has been my observation that lending money to friends usually results in the end of the friendship no matter how well intentioned both parties were in the beginning.Debt Free! Do you have contact details for this person? It would be worth writing them a letter and telling them if they do not pay up within x days then you will be taking them to court.
Obviously you can't afford to take them to court but it might encourage them to pay up.
Do you happen to know any of their friends /family that you can explain the situation to who might have some influence?

Ive also been stung in the past and now i never ever lend money to anyone. In total I'm £1,800 out of pocket. This was money lent in faith I also let another "friend" get items out of the Very.com account i used to run (so i also ended up paying the interest on very too!)

It worked a treat twice when flatmates wouldn't pay their share.
Good luck!0 -
I will lend to friends and family but only money that I can afford to not get back - and any repayments are seen as a bonus.0

Try shaming him on social media: you probably have mutual friends so let everyone know he owes you money but won't pay it back. Even if you don't get it back, all his friends will know what a jerk he is.0
