advice on old barclays debt

Like many other people on this website when I was younger I got into a lot of debt living out of my means. I was young, stupid and took out credit cards, overdrafts, loans etc for me and my childrens father (we split in 2007 ish). I had the debts in my name
After we split I started college part time and therefore was on income support at the time. I tried my best to pay off all the debts but only mananging to pay minimum payments. I turned to CCCS and even though my debts were about £10k they advised me to go bankrupt. Because of my job prospects becomming bankrupt would not have been ideal so I set up my own payment plans and some companies were great (accepting £1, £5 a month) some were having none of it.
However, I have since paid off most of my debts and checked my credit files to see if its looking any healthier- no!
My credit files stated on January 2015
Barclays £1477
monthly charge £23
headroom £997
A/C status - gone away, delinquent
and continous 666666666 on payment status thingy (since February 2009)
February
Barclays £1499
and yet another 6 (so theyre keeping my debt open at 6 months late?)
So surely this debt should be that statute barred? And how long have they been adding £23 to my debt?
Any advice appreciated on what steps to take

Hi,
Is this debt an over draught ?
If so, that's most likely the interest been added every month.
When was the last time you made a payment or acknowledged this debt in writing ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Its been that long I have no idea what it is.
Any contact I had with them would have been in late 2008 early 2009 when I moved house. That is all I know.PAD from July= £55.10Aug= £120.57Getting organised for christmas!!!!0 -

So it could become statute barred sometime this year then, if your not been chased for it I would just let sleeping dogs lie for now.
If, sometime in the future you are chased for it, you could use the SB argument.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I thought that it would only become statute barred after barclays says ive defaulted? whereas it just continuly says '6' every month.PAD from July= £55.10Aug= £120.57Getting organised for christmas!!!!0

In general If you don't make a payment, or acknowledge a debt in writing, for any period exceeding 6 years(England and Wales) 5 years in Scotland, then the debt will become SB.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
