De cluttering and making money!

So, I've been having a bit of a hard time lately. Recently diagnosed with depression, hyper anxiety and mild OCD. Part of the reason for this is due to my current situation where I live far away from my family and friends, in a bungalow that's falling apart, but we cant afford to move right now.
I wallowed in self pity for a while, then decided to start making steps to sort the situation out. Myself and my partner currently have credit card debts totalling approx £5000 between us. Once these debts have gone we will have more spare cash to save and move out with our daughter and continue to expand our family!
I have read online that the average home had over 200 items that are unused, be that books, DVDs, cds, toys, clothes etc.
So yesterday I set my mind to a little de cluttering challenge. I went through all my CDs, all my DVDs and all my books and separated them into piles of ones I use regularly and ones that have just sat there doing nothing! In total I have over 200 CDs, over 100 DVDs and over 100 books that I no longer actually want. I made a list of all of them and posted a link on facebook for my friends to see if anyone wanted any, so far I have made over £100 in 24hours!! Any that don't sell will be sold via somewhere like ziffit or music magpie. I have also listed them on gumtree but had no feedback from that yet.
It is said that clutter in the house can also be clutter in your head, so I'm hoping this helps- not only financially but also mentally. I'm on a roll now and my mission is to find more stuff that we no longer use and want and hopefully sell it on to someone else so they can get some enjoyment out of it
What things do you have laying around your home that you would like to get rid of that could make you some spare cash?

I have a lot of books and clothes that I'm trying to get rid of
I have been selling some of them but I don't have a lot of time to go through and list them so just doing slowly
Me and my husband made around £600 over the last 2 months on Ebay by selling unwanted stuff. Most of it came from IT, Computing kit he has had around and they sell well and more obviously.
Also a thread that might interest you !

Hi,
I felt like you a couple of years ago, diagnosed with lots of different illnesses and realised that all this junk sat around my house was not helping me to feel any better! It was then I started reading around the subject on the net and found out about minimalism.
I've been decluttering my possessions for a couple of years now- once you start, you see more and more that you can get rid of and realise what you can live without! You can read more, if you click on my blog link in my profile.
Anyway, we have made thousands of £ selling stuff- eBay, car boots sales, webuybooks, Amazon marketplace and more. Good luck on your journey!Minimalist

I've just spent a very enjoyable and useful half-hour on your blog, Wizzbang:T and will look forward to revisiting soon to read what I haven't the time for just now. I've really found something there that strikes a chord with me (although I fear my eventual minimalism is many years off:o).
Thanks for the inspiration so far. I hope to be travelling with you on your journey, you striding on apace and me plodding on far behind:rotfl:0 -
Thanks! Glad to know it can be helpful to others. I read the decluttering thread that was linked to, but personally I found it as dull as dishwater! I personally can't believe that anyone finds it interesting to catalogue basically what they are putting out in the rubbish. Surely that is obvious! Well anyway, that thread didn't strike a chord with me so I won't be making use of it. Minimalism is deeper than that.Minimalist

Awesome! I'm also on a decluttering kick. I had a bunch of old electronics (phones, laptops) just wasting space in my closet, losing value. I sold them on eBay, invested the money in index funds, and now that money is INCREASING instead of decreasing. Woot!0

By the way you never know what it is going to be sold on Ebay.
I sold 2 paper Lacoste bags recently and my husband lost a glove and sold the other one on Ebay :eek:ally.0 -
Yup, I sold a bundle of MAC cosmetics paper bags for a ridiculous sum and the buyer paid over £7 for special delivery! CRAZY!!! Jane Norman carrier bags also sell well. Loopy world we live in.Minimalist
