The problem with 'escaping' is that you have to have something to escape *to*.
Your life after work needs to have as positive a pull as your flight from work had a negative push, IYSWIM?
I'm going to be contrarian and argue that someone who has a £100k pension pot and £200k in BTLs + home equity cannot survive mentally (or financially) on £17k from the BTLs.
You worked very hard to be where you are, there needs to be a middle ground between worked to death and uncertain.
Personally? I'd lie on applications (omit your work experience) to get a slacker job and find a couple of hobbies that you like. That way you'd have pin money + a bit of structure until you can transition into something else.
How does wife feel about the fact that you're proposing leaving the workforce forever but she is expected to keep working? I ask as mine would be !!!!ed0 -
Really hope you find something that restores your faith in work! xStarted my MFW journey in August 14 : £103,650

Thanks all.
My wife is very supportive and just wants me to be happy. She is also very happy in her part time job and wouldn't want to give it up in the near term anyway.
I've done the number crunching and we only have expenses pm of around 2k, overall income is around 3k so I would effectively be able to retire at 37 and have 1k pm left over for saving/extra spending without doing a days work at all - you can see how tempting it is.
The flip side for I did that is I would need to make extra effort to find things to keep me busy - hobbies, charity work etc just to make sure I keep me Sain.
Let's see what work say about my part time request.0
