Loans for those previously bankrupt

Options
I'm in need of some help and advice. I was made bankrupt in June 2009 and discharged by the December of the same year. In June 2015 the bankruptcy is due to be removed from my credit file yet still I am unable to get a reasonable loan for my new motorbike needed for the daily commute. My bank is Lloyds and they want me to apply for a brand new account and then wait another 6mths minimum. A few companies have said we NEVER loan to those with a past bankruptcy even after it's been lifted. Any ideas how I can get around this please? And also without paying a ludicrous charge for the privilege? I have a good credit score I dont want to wreck now!

Are you still on the insolvency register ?
If the Bankrupcy is still registered on your credit file, you will have to wait until it's removed, very few if any lenders will lend to anyone who is still showing as been bankrupt.

    Once it's gone, it's gone.
If they ask you if you've ever been bankrupt, lie. 😉

Is that a joke? (there's a square in your post which I'm not sure whether or not it's meant to be a smiley).

If you lie on a financial application then you're committing fraud by false representation - a criminal offence.

It is indeed a smiley !!!!

Because banks are very reputable institutions, and would never lie to customers.
The same way they would never overcharge us for running a bank account, nor would they ever dare to tell us PPI was compulsory, when it clearly wasn't, nor would they charge us for packaged bank accounts, or try to fiddle the banks mortgage rate in order to make the bank more profit !!!!!

Of course they wouldn't, as they are indeed, solid pillars of the community !!

Could you just go for a cheaper 2nd hand bike instead, or is that being too sensible?

Granted, but how long is one supposed to tolerate being punished for a bankruptcy? The whole point of it is that it is done and it drops off the file. Once it drops off, you have served your punishment. You dont continue being punished for a criminal offense once it has been discharged.

OP, I dont wonder if you are sliding back into your old ways a little. Why cant you save up for a second hand run-around and buy something more to your liking later?

I didn't make the rules, but lying on an application is fraud :p despite what the banks have or haven't done it's still fraud. One rule for them and another for us unfortunately.

Right, and there are a lot of lenders who don't ask if you've EVER been bankrupt - so find one!
