Northern Rock messed up my survey

...sigh.
We paid around 505 quid on the 27th, and were told the survey would take up to 3 days to be carried out.
This week, we've had endless phonecalls from the estate agent working for the person we're buying from wondering where the survey was.
More calls to northern rock followed, along with the usual promises of "we'll phone you back" - we finally phoned them about half an hour ago, to be told there was some sort of "wrong number" somewhere that had prevented them from arranging the survey. considering the sellers estate agents details were provided to northern rock on a printed sheet given to us by the *sellers estate agent*, that seems doubtful.
after finding out who northern rock are using for the survey, we phoned them up directly and they've said they'll inform the local branch that this is now something of an emergency case.
but however you look at it, more than a week will have been wasted by the time the survey is out of the way. i'm furious, especially as we will be looking incredibly stupid with our "wrong phone number" excuse which just sounds super lame.
suggestions? I'm considering lodging a complaint with northern rock at this stage, do I have grounds for one?
