Good morning diary,
Had really good news from natwest yesterday. I had put a claim in for misselling a ppi on a loan back in 1992. DH had a text the day before to say a decision had been made and a letter would be following in up to ten working days. So I rang them yesterday morning and they have made an offer of £740! They are irritating me however because they will only deal with DH on this. Again he had to authorise them to speak to me yesterday. It's a joint account, was a joint loan and if we hadn't paid I'm sure they would have been happy to chase me for it!
That was one of my complaints for misselling, because I was paid redundant and tried to claim and we were told it was only the first named person who was covered for redundancy cover. DH has always been self employed and they had his business account at the time. If we had been made aware of that we would have switched the names around on the account.
DD is getting excited. She has been to see a mortgage advisor and she has an offer in principle for a mortgage. However her boyfriend can't go on the mtg because he has some financial issues in the past. They just have to save like mad now to get their deposit up. I'm much happier that it will just be in his name as if anything goes wrong he can walk away and she can cover the bills on her own.
Have the house to myself tomorrow night as boys are away with their hobby for the night and dd is at a party, so I have a friend coming over for a meal and no doubt a bottle or two! Also have a 60th birthday party this after, going to try really hard to stay away from the desserts because I want another weight next week.Light Bulb Moment: October 2011

Afternoon Diary, and happy easter!
Exciting news, I have been awarded a badge for being a PPI party pooper. And the message also reminded me about claiming for being in the wrong council tax category and washing uniforms. Well I claimed the council tax back about ten years ago, got just under 1k, and funnily enough was talking to my d's last night about printing the forms off for him as he wears a uniform for work. On the understanding that we split his refund as I swear he doesn't even know where the washing machine is let alone how to turn it on! I apologise now in advance to his future wife.
The party went really well yesterday. So nice to catch up with family and friends for a happy occasion rather than a funeral. DD and I took some Easter eggs with us which had been given to us to gift (offload) them to nephews and nieces as we are attempting to stick to plan. All well and good until my brother visited last night with armfuls of chocolate for us in return. Very nice of him but I wish I had specified that they were a gift I didn't want reciprocated lol.Light Bulb Moment: October 2011

Found an old briefcase in the attic a few weeks ago from an old job some 15+ years ago. Went through it all yesterday, 99% of which was junk paperwork which went straight into recycling. However, I found an old letter from my Amex card with my account number on. Had a letter from Amex this week advising they couldn't take my claim any further without the account number! Result!!!Light Bulb Moment: October 2011

I've stupidly put the Amex letter in a safe place. Need to have a good hunt to find it tomorrow. DH had a text from natwest earlier to say the refund was being paid into the account today. I've waited all day for it as I wanted to shift it straight into my savings account. They have paid it into his sole account! I swear they are trying to wind me up over this. It was a joint loan, out of a joint account, and the complaint was upheld because the insurance was placed just in his name. And still they pay it into his account! He just transferred it straight to me.
DD has found a lovely house and had her offer accepted. Mortgage applied for so waiting to hear now. She won't pass her probation in work for about 10 days so hopefully that won't go against her.
I finished MIL's blanket in time for her birthday but I didn't like it. Have unpicked it and whizzed another one up which I like much more. Hopefully she won't mind it's a week late. We gave her money and took most of the family out for a birthday meal. Expensive outing for DH.Light Bulb Moment: October 2011

Good morning Diary
This morning I had a call from Link. I think (hope) we are coming close to agreeing a figure to clear my last two debts. I have upped my offer to £1500 to clear two debts totalling £2048.80. These debts go back some 10 years when I first became ill. I've been in a self managed dmp ever since. One of the debts is to First National, they had a ccj against me and have a charge against my property. It was a joint loan. Actually, typing that has reminded me that I must ask her when she calls back what the process is for getting the charge removed. This is a big deal for me, I had got myself in such a mess I couldn't ever see a way out of it.
Apart from the above, I have had a bit of a spend today. I have been following planner nerds on Instagram and p interest and YouTube lately and have given in and bought one. I'm not saying how much it was! About a week ago I wrote out my morning and evening routines and have pretty much stuck to it. It's really nice getting up in the mornings and knowing the kitchen is going to be tidy. I've also written a list of all the meals I make so that when I am menu planning for the week I can refer to that list and see what I fancy making that week, what I have in and what I need to buy in.
I find all too often I leave it til lunchtime before thinking of dinner and can then only think of 3 or 4 options, and of course someone's always says they don't want that. In fact this morning I said I was doing sausage mash and gravy for dinner. Both DH and DS both turned their noses up. So my list managed to get 23 different meals on it!Light Bulb Moment: October 2011
