i never said Halifax were the answer for adverse markers so maybe you need to read what i've written rather than putting words in my mouth.

I said they accept single applications for married couples and so if they can do it others can. i wouldn't know where to start with adverse customers as i have no experience in this.

I only advised sophie to progress with a single application (as she is doing) as this is a safer bet and that some lenders do this with married couple. i warned her of the issues she could experience with a joint application, however, acknowledged a broker could possibly get round this.

I would advise new members reading this not to post on this forum as some experience members tend to do is go on an ego trip.

The advice from Carlos is not relevant to Sophie as the issue with the deposit is that it is being supplied by her father - not a direct relative of her husband who is the applicant.

Where do you think the deposit in my wifes account came from since shes been a stay at home mum for 3 years?

i am in exactly the same situation as you and have had full application accepted by halifax (waiting offer)

My Mrs (stay at home mum) has no credit rating and holds the deposit (20%)

All halifax require is a letter stating its a gift and is not expecting it back.

You are in EXACTLY the same situation and Halifax accepted you.

Maybe I misread your post, but thats what I took from it. If I did misread it then so could others?

There is no ego trip going on, we are just trying to ensure the OP gets the right information for their circumstances.

  • I'll let you know how that works out when we make further progress.

Its legal tender so i have no issues showing them the origin of the funds.

But Halifax have only asked for a letter so they must be more relaxed on regulations.

From what i've read its only high risk clients that require higher level of tracing/proof.

You've applied for one mortgage and you're trying to out-advise and argue against people who deal with mortgage applications day in, day out, and have done for years. Just stop. You're not being helpful whatsoever.
