Scotman ..
This is the quote we got from some local chaps - they actually travel all the UK. Obviously, this price/figs are subject to change and home survey may be required.. How does it compare to yours
Design & installation of 3kw solar PV system (12 x 250w CSUN modules in portrait orientation)
Hosolar 2500TL inverter with 5yr guarantee.
Price includes scaffold, EPC and VAT.
First year benefits approximately £500 (this is made up of Feed in tariff and estimated electricity savings. The FIT is guaranteed for 20 years and rises with inflation. Your savings will increase as electricity prices rise).
Installation usually takes 1 day with minimal disruption.
Total - £5,450.00
(Obviously, this price/figs are subject to change.. How does it compare to yours)
Mines will be 3.25kw. 13 x Black Solarworld monocrystalline modules, Feronius, Power One or SMA inverter (with 10 year guarantee) Scaffold, EPC and VAT for a grand total of £4700.
Guessing the 2554kw/£600 might be a bit optimistic, but PVGIS says 2360kw.0 -
@Mart - Ive never posted on here for ages, (check my post history), simply offering what I thought was good advice/with a good price. Turns out thats not the case hey?
Thanks DD for not blowing your top with me. Perhaps I was being a little (big?) bit overprotective this morning.
What's really interesting though, is that your quote should cause any controversy in the first place. It shows how far and fast PV has come in the last 12 months, and it was no slowcoach before that.
Fingers crossed you can save another £1k+ or 20% on that. Something I couldn't have believed last March.
Regarding T's comments on that inverter sizing, I danced around the issue a little, but do think it's a little small. For the same money you could get a Samil 3000TL which maxes out at 2,800W. Loads of options I suspect.
Mart.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Well after all that, change of plan.
I'd been hoping to get it all installed before April, but that wasn't going to happen when I'd decided on some interest free assistance with paying.
I got a Green Deal assessor out today and the house didnt do too good. It's sitting on an F at the moment (38, so one away from an E
)
Off on holiday at the end of the month, so I'll do that, come back and look at the bigger picture. (Heating etc).
I'll gather all the info from my quotes, look into the bigger panels and be better prepared for next time.
Then I'll be back.
Thank you for all the assistance guys.0
