Used no knowledge of debt letter

Options
I have used the no knowledge of debt letter. The company have acknowledged receipt of the letter and said they will not contact me again but told me all future communication must be made to their client Lowell-Lloyds. What do I do now?

    Hi

You don’t necessarily need to do anything at this point. If you’re contacted by anyone else regarding the same debt you can send them the same letter.

I would agree James there with one exception.

If Lloyds/Lowells have put a default or other adverse information on your credit reports for a debt that is not yours, then you may need to raise a disputes now to get those removed.

Yes, that's a good point fermi. It's good practice to check credit files regularly anyway but especially if there is the possibility of a disputed debt to deal with.

Thank you. This is on my credit file so I'll try and dispute it.

You can request that Lloyds/Lowell remove it from your credit file if they can’t provide proof that the debt is yours.

If they don’t remove it you can go down the complaints route of making a written complaint, then complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and also the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if necessary.
