Friday's Insolvency figures will make even more scary reading.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Well we know that a lot of people are in debt from the the years we have been posting here. People come and go in a hazy debt fuelled life that will some day crash and burn.

I think saying that debts of over £10k are serious are a little misleading. It all depends on your outgoings/Income ratio. If I was a Trader in the City then my 40k debt wouldnt matter as my bonus would clear it. It is pretty dire overall that the government does nothing to educate the masses.

Its like Edwardian times. The Rich get Richer, The Poor Get Poorer and the Majority will life beyond there means if given a half a chance too

Very true that Crown - we owe probably a little under our yearly income so that is serious debt to us. But shrinking debt so all the better.

The government is obsessed with lifestyle classes where we teach, sex, nutrition, beliefs - surely within there they could do lessons on apr's. This week my sister rang me saying she had found her hubby had credit cards she was shocked to hear that if he never put another penny on it but paid it off at the rate it was it would take 12 years. Like she said you would never take a loan out over 12 years but we all apply for credit cards almost without thinking.

when you think about all of us on here at the various stages of our journey, it is quite frightening to think that we are probably a tiny tiny percentage of all the people in this situation.

Think of all the SOA's, cries for help etc on the DFW and then compare that to all the people who aren't doing anything for whatever reason.

I don't know how many DFW'ers there are in MSE land, but I'm guessing it is less than 1% of the 8 million featured in the report.

Not necessarily - I spent 10 years as a stockbroker for a city firm and my biggest bonus was £5000!!!

Certainly not enough to buy my holiday home, a sports car and a rolex watch!

But I know what you are saying - it's all relative!!
