    After seeing the creme patisserie a simple suggestion. I have caster sugar in two containers; one is for "ordinary" use and into the other I push an old used vanilla pod and leave it there. After a week you have caster sugar with a vanilla aroma for such and similar recipes.. The pod should last (even me!) a couple of years and many sugar refills. Saves on expensive vanilla pods and it is always there if you want to experiment..


    I see Curry Queen uses the vanilla seeds; OK - they show in/decorate the finished product but are not necessary for the taste. Each to his/her own taste.
