I converted several hundred pounds when I bought a Tag watch from them a few years ago, and this Christmas we got my son an Armani watch that was several hundred pounds. Absolutley recommend this route!
Actually you got me thinking and I went over to my Clubcard account and it turns out I have £90 worth of vouchers so i've just exchanged them for £270 worth of Goldsmith vouchers. Good job I looked because a number of them run out next week, so thank you for reminding me!
I know that means I have to use Goldsmiths now but I was kind of heading towards them as I know i'm getting a genuine UK product.0 -

I understand what you are saying but as I say this watch is a reward to me for getting through a tragic period. Its not actually about the money and cost saving.
I called up my friend yesterday and he said that he was told by the jeweller that it needs sending back every year for a service which is the same as my Rotary, I was told by them that ideally it should be serviced every year.
As you say though, its not about moneysaving so if you are happy with the service charge then thats fine and even better if it can be left 5 to 10 years :beer:I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I think the jeweller may be on some kind of kickback as I have never ever heard of any watch manufacturer or jeweller / watch dealer suggesting 1 year servicing. Rolex themselves recommend 5 years and Tissot 3 years according to their respective websites, and the 3 years is only a conditionn of their lifetime warranty.• The rich buy assets.

Thanks guys.
I think it also depends how often you wear it. If its once a month to the theatre then its surely not going to get much wear.
I think I will wear mine everyday, then again I will probably be scared to leave the house with it ha ha.0 -
I've had mine for 22 years. From memory it's had two services and perhaps 4 or 5 battery changes.
It still feels like a million dollars when I wear it, I do wear it every single day.
Enjoy it.0 -

If you are looking at a Manual or Automatic (Wind Up) watch rather than a Quartz (Battery) version, then it is a good idea to wear it or give it a full wind every couple of months regardless.
This is because the watch will wind down and stop a couple of days after you stop wearing it, and keeping it running helps keep the oils which lubricate the movement (gears and stuff!) well distributed and in good condition.• The rich buy assets.

Thanks for all your help guys.
Well I went today and had a lovely time. Lovely staff and two cups of coffee later and I am the proud owner of a Rolex.
Its a stunning watch and I feel good about my purchase. I've just got to pluck up the courage to wear it outside lol.
I went for a steel one so hopefully wearing it everyday won't be a problem.
I'm very grateful for all the advice :T0 -
If you bought an automatic, consider an auto winder if you aren't going to wear the watch every day.

Thank you.
Joking aside I think I will wear it every day, you only live once so I may as well enjoy it0 -
Really happy about your news. I also have a plan. I had a Brietling for my 21st and wore it every day for over thirty years. AND i only had it serviced every 4 years. But age caught up with it, and even after sending it back to Brietling for advice, it now only comes out very occasionally. Starts to lose time after a few hours.
But I looking at 65 in a couple of years, so will award myself a nice replacement> May be another Brietling if I can find one small enough , thin wrists. But its got to be an automatic chromagraph .
Will start saving.0
