If the £15K was hers, why would you think you could not declare it? That would sound very much like lying for financial gain, also known a fraud.
If the money was yours and placed in the joint bank account it would be a different question but you said "She has £15000 in savings which is going into the new joint account."0 -

Where did her savings come from ?
Personally, I think you have a bit of a cheek expecting to be able to effectively hide her savings just so that the State pay her more than she is entitled to.0
