Ive got an old A&L mortgage that was fixed and has been tracker 0.75% above boe rate so 1.25% so im sure yours will be correct at 1.49%

Im thinking of ditching it for an offset mortgage when i move in a couple of months so I can pay next to no interest instead of the £800 a year interest im still paying even at that low rate

I've been expecting my mortgage to increase for a long time. As a small building society they have little room to work within. Skipton had to raise their rates and break the rate collar some years back. Otherwise the Directors would have breach of their legal fiduciary responsibilities.

Thrugelmir, I bow to your superior knowledge on these matters, and I know that Skipton raised the SVR on their mortgages approx 5 years ago, however I was unaware that they had increased the rate for customers on lifetime trackers?

Feb 2008, 20year lifetime tracker with "Sproggit and Sylvester"... 0.14% + base for 2 years, then 0.99% + base for life of mortgage...base was 5.5% in 2008...but not for long. Credit to my mortgage broker
