A bit of background
Live in North England
Married
second child on the way
Took out a self cert intrest only mortgage in mid 2007 of just over £200k, fixed at 5.4 % for 5 years. Looking back it wasn't the best financial decision i ever made.
We've been obsessed with making overpayents since day one, and have tried to live frugally
We both have decent jobs, but the wife is part time since children came along, so progress slowed for the last couple years.
Anyway barring any great disasters tomorrow is our last mortgage payment. It certainly hasn't been easy but am glad we've done it
Best of luck to everyone on here in achieving your goals
