I believe it's fine to cook and freeze rice as long as you use it up within a day of defrosting, hope that helps, Lyn xxx.
Personally, for the last year after I've cooked rice I just leave it on the hob for several days with the lid on and use as needed. I always end up cooking too much.
I have never come to any harm. Just an anecdote granted.0 -
how do you cook quinoa? I bought a packet, but it doesn't have cooking instructions and I can't seem to find any on google! Thank you0

I tend to use 3 times the amount of water to quinoa. So if i use 1 mug of quinoa, i use 3 mugs of water.
You need to rinse the quinoa thoroughly before cooking, as the outer shell is bitter and not nice. Just put in a sieve and rinse until the water runs clear. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15-20 mins.
It is quite bland tasting on its own (similar to cous cous), so while cooking, add your flavourings to the water it's being cooked in. I like to add some vegetable bullion, or curry powder.0
