exchange of contract additional condition

I have a retention of 1k the vendor is happy to pay for about £700's worth of work but only after exchange.

I've proposed about 1 month between exchange and completion.

Does anyone know if my solicitor can put in a condition of exchange that she must get this done within x amount of days after exchange?

Can't reach solicitor to ask hence posting here.

    Anyone ?

Not sure if I should stand my ground and continue to insist she gets the work done pre exchange.

Why would you trust the vendor to do the work to a professional standard?

    Seek advice from your solicitor.

The work is to be done by a damp and timber specialist already had a quote.

My main concern is they could just refuse after exchange.

    By far the easiest solution.
