Mortgage Application - Childcare

Hi all

We are looking to apply at the end of the year and currently pay childcare vouchers of £320 (ish) per month.

However my wee one is nearly 3 and come January will get 16 hours per week paid for. This along with his granny cutting work by a day and looking after him means we will have no childcare costs.

My question is, when will banks (Halifax most likely) allow us to apply without counting this cost within affordability?

Comments

  • Some lenders (can't speak for all) can factor in the date at which the childcare commitment will cease so that affordability going forward wouldn't be impacted.
    Slummy mummy!
  • What times prior to it stoppong though?

For example if I applied in August, would they leave it out of affordability as its will cease within 6 months? Or would it need to be 3 months?
