  • IBS flare isn't that bad but when you add it to the days full of other ailments, it takes its toll. Am really fed up and in pain right now 😢.

Sorry for the self indulgent rant!!

I have IBS too.... My problem is i'm poorly, so I eat rubbish to make me feel better, then not long after the IBS kicks in and I feel dreadful! Catch 22..... Sometitmes I feel like I can't win!

I'm going back to work today. Just a little 4 hour shift. Hope it goes ok. Always worry when I've been off work that people will be "off" with me for being off again!

Thanks to all for sharing their stories. Its lovely to read (that sounds terrible I know!)..... But what I mean is its nice to know that I'm not alone.

Thistle..... Thanks for starting this thread.

Good luck with your day at work. I have to go tomorrow for 5 hours. Am currently on phased return so only doing mon and tomorrow this week.

I am the same with my IBS sometimes. It is often difficult to eat well when you're poorly. Ironically though yesterday I had eaten healthily. I had boiled eggs and wholemeal toast, fruit and veg and small amount of greek yogurt over the course of the day - as well as some all bran for breakfast! It was probably the fibre in the all bran that did it!!

You folks have cheered me up. I have fibro IBS and arthritis so most days feel yuk. For some strange reason painkillers don't work for me and I might as well eat something I like which is why I am overweight. I had a scare recently when the doctor thought I was having TIAs and a wait of 4 weeks for the appointment to the consultant who told me it was migraines. The forum on MSE is the best way I cheer myself up. Keep well.
  • Thanks everyone. I had another bad night, I don't think my dh got any sleep at all. He's now doing a 10 hour shift and I feel so guilty for keeping him awake.

Aw sorry to hear this. I hate feeling guilty but often do too. We know we can't help being ill, but it doesn't make it any better when you feel you're causing someone else to feel tired/ill/fed up etc. I sleep on our sofa most nights because I struggle to get to sleep in the dark, quiet bedroom. And our sofa is more comfy😁

Like last night at the meal, I felt guilty for feeling poorly and it put a bit of downer on things even more.

How are you feeling today? Hope you're getting a break from feeling too poorly.
  • Thank you! My dh keeps saying it's not my fault and not to worry but I do feel bad that he's having a hard time at work because of me. He has Crohns and Ankylosing Spondylitis so he's not exactly 100% at the best of times, I feel like I'm adding to his burden.

My face is swollen and I have a terrible itchy rash all over my body. I managed to take a bath and I'm well enough to be distracting myself on here though, so it's not all bad. Definitely better than yesterday. The Dr put me on a high dose of steroids so I should be feeling pretty good by Saturday. :T
