Can I remortgage if I am now a mature student and earn less?

My husband and I bought our house 6 years ago and when the deal came to an end we just (stupidly) kept paying without seeking a better deal. However, in those 6 years I have become a mature student and am due to graduate in July of this year. My husband is also now a mature student. My problem is that we want to remortgage to get a better deal but I am afraid to tell the bank of our new statuses in case they refuse us? Can this happen? We have never missed a payment and have no other depts or credit card bills. Thanks for any information!

Is this a remortgage, or do you just want a new deal from your current lender?
If the latter, there may be no further income checks, so find out what's on offer from your lender and how they go about it.
An online "execution-only" system is more likely to have no checks. If you involve a human being, face to face or over the phone, you may end up being "advised" and having to prove income.I am a mortgage broker.
