I got a toaster from Asda last year for less than a fiver and its great, it has all the little extras on it like a breadcrumb tray you can pull out and clean, croissant heating bit, defrost bit...Heh, more features than most expensive ones I have seen.No sigs, I don't smoke....:rotfl:0

Actually, if you think safety, then don't think cheap toaster.
I have a Cookworks from Argos, a year old now. Problem is, it does not always flick off and eject the toast. And when I eject the toast, it just continues glowing. It did this after a few weeks.
This is a major fire hazard - and I asked for it I know, because I bought a cheap toaster.
I think Argos et al are mad selling items so cheap that they don't work properly and put lives at risk. Imagine the headlines when a bunch of children don't survive a fire - from an Argos toaster. It would be horrendous PR.
Anyway, the Cookworks is cheap tat and if you don't watch it carefully it might combust. You will save a tenner or so on the toaster, and pay thousands to rebuild your kitchen. And I'm not joking either.
It just keeps on glowing, with no safety cut out. I power it off at the wall, because I'm used to it and I am a responsible adult (I hope).
If you have children - do not buy this toaster.
Think about it - a child's life or £10. Take you pic folks.

seems dangerious to keep on using it!
it has a fault so get a refund or replacement, my one from argos, as I said above, works fine, turns off when it should and makes nice toast etc.0 -
Hey I came across some Pink Kettles and Toasters yesterday but they were in a store named T.J. Hughes. This is in the north west so don't know if you have one by you? Loads of CHEAP STUFF!!!!!:T0

i bought that tesco toaster a few months ago..for like something around £4. Whilst it work, it broke quite quickly :-( because I accidently broke the heating element by mistake whilst putting a knife in the toaster to move the bread a bit...
Meanwhile now I bought the cheapest of the kedwood (£14 - must have been in a sale somewhere) and it still works!! :-)0 -

I second that. The holiday cottage that we stopping in for our recent holiday had a cheapy 4slice Tesco toaster (about £6), and one day we discovered flames coming out of it because it had failed to pop up (the toast wasn't jammed - the bread was actually taller than the toaster slot as the slot is so shallow.
You really do get what you pay for if you get the cheapest you can buy!0
