CCJ from 02 4 years after Default

Options
Hi

I was given a CCJ by Lowell Portfolio for a mobile phone account that was taken out in 2011.

Is this acceptable? I was defaulted in 2011 but then a CCJ placed on me now.

If you didnt acknowledge or make a payment on the debt in law they have 6 years in which to do that.

So a case of suck it up?

I had no idea that mobile phone providers were issuing CCJs, I would have thought a default was damaging enough!

Its been sold to Lowells a debt collector. They do do CCJs on most types of debt. You took a risk not paying and it didnt pay off.

I actually had a perfect credit file, to pass a fit and proper person test for employer as a financial advisor - I became regulated.

This was a stray debt as was a speeding fine. Both of which resulted in CCJ of which I am now trying to sort out.

Oops hope they don't do followup checks
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Hi

Lowell should have tried to contact you before hand and tried to resolve the matter without taking court proceedings, but if you’ve changed address they may not have been able to do so.

As Rizla King has said, the creditor or debt collection agency have the right to apply for a CCJ if they’re within 6 years of your last payment or written acknowledgement of the debt.

You should get a Magistrates Court fine for a speeding offence, not a County Court Judgement. As far as I’m aware a Magistrates Court fine shouldn’t be marked on your credit reference file.

Anyone who is owed money can make a claim in the county court.

What happened to the court claim paperwork in this case?

    Did you get it?

    Did you respond to it?
