    mobile £10 a month................................125
We pay about £320 combined for our cars. 345
    Council tax is £130 a month. ................... 475
Rent is £700 that includes water and electricity....1175 total
    wages income......33000 into 12 months = 2750 wages
money left to spend a month is £1575.....?
    what's the problem?

What about taking income tax and NI off? lose 25% off that total and it looks completely different!

OP, to reduce your grocery bill use Aldi, Lidl and farm shops/ markets for produce, supermarket prices for meat and veg are a rip off compared to farm gate prices.
My broad mind and narrow waist are slowly swapping places!!

If the costs posted are the OP's idea of living frugally then she is going to need to have a big rethink if she ever hopes not to be skint.

Enough has been posted to get her started on adjusting her spending and her mindset. But she has to be ready to hear it. Maybe she isn't. Maybe she will still argue further trying to justify all those unnecessary bills. Up to her.

Thing is - you'll always be skint if you spend all your money on Sky and buy everything on tick - no matter what pay rises you get.

Yes definitely. We can suggest everything or we can just listen if she wants to be heard but that is it really ;)

Caveat first, obviously if you remove everything you like you are going to have a pretty miserable existance, so moderation is the key.

That said, my thoughts are as follows.

Sky, this is a crazy amount to be spending! £45 a month for tv when you can get about 50 channels for free! Get rid of this expense asap.

Cars, difficult only you know if you would be able to work your jobs with just on car, or how motivated you are to make it work with just one car.

Are you paying for the cheapsest possible model of car? if not, why not. There are arguments for and against leasing cars, on the plus they are not going to have as many repair bills as an older car that is owned outright.

Sofa, why buy a new one? When me and my partner first lived together we just got a second hand sofa for £75, it still had loads of life left.

I think you really need to think more about what purchases you actually need, because I dont think you are being as frugal as you think you are.

The underlying problem is your job, I dont know how hard you are trying to find better employement, only you know this.

At the end of the day, you just need to stop feeling sorry for youself and make things happen. Only you can do this!

One final thing, if you or your partner do get higher paid jobs, dont fall into the trap of suddenly buying more just because you can. Actually start saving.
