Remortgage for extension - any advice?

Hi there
Our 2 year fixed deal ends in August this year, with the nationwide.
From what I have read, I believe we can apply to remortgage and borrow more if we are within 3 months of the end date?
If that's the case, does that mean we could get the extra funds before the end date as ideally we would like to start the work before August.
Our current situation is this:
DH self employed, company director, 3.5 yrs account - 80K income
Me full time employed - 35k a year
House worth £460k, current mortgage £300k.
Looking to borrow around 65k for extension to house.
Do you think those figures look workable?
