Wristwatch duty free dilemma

Hi I want to buy a high end omega seamaster 300 wristwatch for my wedding anniversary. Can anybody tell me if doing this duty free is a saving. They currently cost 2700 over the counter here in the UK but is it worth a friend bringing one from Dubai? th There are lots of used ones on eBay but they're all nearly 2000 so would it be worth the risk?

Your friend cannot (legally) bring it duty free from Dubai for you


Ignoring that, unless he smuggles it in, there will be tax (VAT for certain and duty if watches are dutiable - I suspect they are) to pay to bring it in to the country.


I'm assuming the cost is above the thresholds

You can get a really nice watch for much less (risk).

Very silly comment.

I wear a Rolex. Unless someone is actually 12 inches away from my wrist, they have no idea i wear one. Mines worth more than £2k. I love it.
