Just had a spam message from them and don't want to hit the 'unsubscribe' button if that will simply confirm I exist and get me onto more junk mail systems...but I certainly don't want to hear from them again!

Presumably because deleting it won't stop more messages from the same sender.

OP was asking for advice on whether or not to unsubscribe - in the (clearly forlorn) hope someone on this site could assist. I have every sympathy; if you don't unsubscribe you get more junk, if you do and the site is untrustworthy you have merely confirmed you exist and will get on even more junk mailing lists.
