Saving on appliances/household items

Whenever I buy a small appliance/household item I do a quick google search to see who has the best price. I don't necessarily buy it from the cheapest source but it gives me a ball park figure to haggle with the shop I do buy it from.
Anyone have any other tips for getting the best price on things?
I ask as I'm looking to get a Microwave and everyone seems to be the same price.

See if the retailer is on Quidco or top cash back for cash back and also look for discount codes.I don't mind second hand and luckily we have a council run charity shop which tests all electric goods and then sells them very cheap,TVs for £10,microwaves for £15(like new).0
