Help

Hi
I was made BR in 1999
Split up from then partner and moved away from the area
I contacted the OR at the time and told them I was moving
I didn't hear any more from them and went on with my life
In 06 I bought a house with my new wife
All was good until we started a company last year
I got a letter via my accountant that I had never been discharged and that I am still bankrupt
I contacted the OR who say they never got any contact from me back in 99
But had no paperwork from back then
Apparently they made an IPO in 2000 for me to pay £100 a month which I knew nothing about
When it wasn't paid they suspended my discharge
The OR now says if I pay the £3600 this week they will petition to discharge me straight away
That's not a problem and my accountant says do it and I will
My question is
After all this time will all this come up on my credit file
Do I have to give up my credit cards bank account etc ?
I'm gutted
I thought this was all done and dusted years ago

nothing about it will go on your credit file. its all too old
  • I'm surprised this didn't crop up when you applied for a mortgage in '06 or in any other banking dealings, particularly if you applied for business loans etc.
Usually, BR drops of credit files 6 years from the date of BR so in theory you should be fine once the account is settled.
I wouldn't be gutted - it sounds like you've done ok over the years and the BR obviously hasn't hindered you up to now :)
  • Thanks for replying
Not sure why it never showed up before
    Anyway onwards and upwards
