late payment with studio 24

I bought an item with studio 24. Searched high and low for it for Xmas only to find this crap company had it. So I applied and they accepted so I got the item. Filled out bank details etc etc and waited for the money to leave my account... and wAited... item arrived so presumed they would take money out. I was surprised to receive a snotty letter saying I owed them money AND they were charging me extra for non payment. I said to the woman over the phone that I would have gladly paid if they had provided a means of doing so. One presumed that with dd details being taken they would call for it. No. Apparently they send an invoice after the first order. So... where was my invoice? 'It was sent on Christmas day' she says 'Must have been lost in the post. Ok well we will waive the excess if you pay it off now.' So I did. It was about 15 quid. Not heard anything else. Applied for a credit card last month and was refused. Odd I thought but paid it no heed. Applied again 6 weeks later....refused... checked credit report... 'late payment marker and overdue £26.'
Where do I start? Their mistake and I am paying?

If they did genuinely send it then technically not their mistake, and in the ned it is up to you to read the terms and conditions about when and how you are due to pay.
Saying that, if not your fault, and given that they accepted payment and waived the late fees, you could still say it is somewhat unfair.

If the OP provided DD details and Studio didn't set up the instruction then it is their fault I think. This should definitely be pursued. Additionally, if the total paid was £15 the late payment cannot be for £26 (they have obviously include the fee in that)0

You presumed a lot of things didn't you. If you'd rang them when the money didn't leave your account after the date you presumed it would then it could have all been sorted. What will your verse be?

they may have just given card details which you would then need to log on to your account and make a manual payment with0
