Hi there, strap in as there's a lot going on that is weighing deeply on my mind,
Im desperately trying to turn my credit history around.
I know the way to do this is to re build by things such as credit rebuilder cards etc, the only problem is, my credits that bad I can't get accepted by one.
The reason behind me swallowing my pride and asking for your help is to ensure that in the coming few years I can afford to provide my daughter and wife with a good living situation, nice house, where I wouldn't be ashamed to invite her friends over even family. This is a hard thing to admit but I'm not currently in a situation where I'm comfortable doing this due to the size and quality of my house. (It's a damp shoebox)
I'm not one to lay blame but my Wife has a large part to play in my current situation, I currently have 2 x CCJ's on my credit file which I was unaware of as my wife chose to hide them from me whilst I was deployed overseas, I'm at a dead end with asking why, whether it is because of, Fear i would hit the roof or fear i would be disappointed or even leave her, anyway thats bye the bye as we have a child and I'm not into that.
I also have been tied into other debts with a number of late payments on.
I have managed to satisfy one of the CCJ's and but still have the other that is active, it was issued in Nov 2010. Will this leave my credit report in Nov 2016?
Also is there a way of getting them removed as I was unaware of even having them due to the above testimonial.
I have other debts which I am making regular full payments on and can't really afford to take on much more.
Any advice regarding the CCJ's or ideas to lay waist to my other debt's which stand at about £12,000 would be really helpful

Hi
The first thing I want to say is that you have come to the right place.
The only real way to clear debt is to face up to it and seriously scrimp to pay for it.
What happened to cause the CCJ's? Presumably there was a lot of overspending but do you know what on?
There is no point in hitting the roof and no point being embarrassed about your house so forget both of those. You need to keep calm and work out a plan. Maybe your wife was too worried to tell you that things were much tighter financially than they were.
There are many people on here who have paid back £100k and so on so study this forum and get a grip on it all.
You can do this but don't take it out on your wife or anyone else, you are supposed to be a team and the issue is as much about you as her.
Team up and work it all out.0 -
I'm completely on that wavelength.
Just for everybody's info the CCJ's are from Yorkshire water, The DD for that particular service came out of her Bank Acc.
More fool me!
thanks for you advice?0 -
I don't really think there is any way to get the credit builder cards until the second CCJ comes off next year (?).
The one thing that concerns me is why you feel you need a good credit file "to ensure that in the coming few years I can afford to provide my daughter and wife with a good living situation, nice house, where I wouldn't be ashamed to invite her friends over even family"? Are you hoping to fund this by getting into debt?
I can read between the lines and assume that you are talking about getting a [larger] mortgage to buy a better home. The good news is that that in itself isn't as difficult as you might think as long as you have a good deposit saved.
What I would do (and have done) is to have a look around this site for ways to earn extra cash and to save money. Every little helps. That way, when your credit file does improve, you will have a bit saved towards your nice home you're dreaming of.
In the meantime are there ways you can convert your damp shoebox into a dry bootbox?0 -
Your aspirations are good - you just need to both get on board with saving etc.0

I don't know if the DW overspent or just couldn't manage on what she had, I am guilty of both of these, and hiding it, didn't do me or DH any favours but I understand why it happens.
Being open and not accusing is very, very difficult but unless you can do this you will likely not make any headway in finding out the real causes. I spent because DH smoked and spent money on other love interests, therefore I was entitled, (so why should I suffer..that was my train of thought).
For me, I never took real responsibility until I was the breadwinner. Now I curse how much money we wasted. Hopefully these forums might hold the key to helping DW get on board a bit more.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
