Where to pawn jewellery with precious stones

Hi, I've got various gold and silver jewellery bits n bobs, with precious stones. I have tried to pawn them locally, but all the places I've tried only give a price on the gold or silver alone, and don't take into account the quality of the piece or the diamond or other stones that are part of the item.


Do old-type of pawnbrokers still exist that are interested in the pieces themselves instead of melting them down? If so, does anyone know of any in North East England, or even an internet site where I can post them off to be valued & sold.
