Exchange of contracts and completion date

Just a quick question. Due to exchange contracts with solicitor next week on a new build home. The house is not complete yet. My question is does the builder have to give an exact date of when the house will be built (completion date) Or is it a rough date? I would prefer an exact date? But we all no problems can arise i.e weather etc.
Thanks :-)
Thanks :-)

It is a target date, it can be delayed and often is.

We bought a house that had been part exed for a new build.
Offer was accepted in May for late July, latest August completion.
Ended up completing in mid November due to delays on the build.0
