Daily Step Count

I have a health tracker on my phone and it tells me that:-

in the last 30 days i have:

taken 210293 steps - daily avg. 7788
burned 10041 calories - daily avg. 372
been active for 31 hours 38 mins - daily avg. 1hr 10 mins
distance 97.62 miles - daily avg - 3.62 miles

the averages are a bit skewed as i don't carry my phone at weekends.

No wonder get through 2 pairs of DeWalt work boots a year.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

  • I've got and had a Garmin Vivofit wrist band since February last year.

To start off with I was looking at it all the time but now forget to upload the data for a week or more.

Not sure how accurate it is but it is consistent...

Average 202,068 a week for Jan but I run a fair bit.
    906,032 for the month
    472.6 miles
  • I do about 11000 steps a day, I did 19000 yesterday for some strange reason

I walk about 4 miles a day, yesterday I did 7. I also have a garmin, I really like it.

I've got a FitBit Zip which I clip to my bra ! It counts the number of steps and syncs with the app on my phone to show the distance I've walked and calories used. I can also add other activities such as swimming via the app. I find it useful and quite motivating - I always challenge myself to beat the previous week's score.

You can get more "sophisticated" gadgets but the Zip is enough for me.

My phone step count is usally 4000-8000 per day and that is working a desk job in London. I think taking the Underground helps a lot with that count, steps are lower if we drive somewhere!

I've got a FitBit flex and it's shocking how few steps I take some days. I have a very sedentary office job and my walk to work takes literally 5 minutes, if I don't add extra exercise in my step count can be as low as a thousand
I try to go for a run every morning and a walk after work, and at the weekends I do a lot more walking, but weekdays are a challenge.
