Good evening all. Hope everyone is well and no one needs any tissues :rotfl:
Does anyone know if you have radiators with thermostatic valves and you turn the valve right down in one room, does this save money? I know it sounds daft but I can't work out whether it would simply not heat that room but the boiler would be on anyway to heat the rest of the house. So if the boiler was in anyway, it would still cost the same?
Hope someone can make it make sense to me.
Hi, the boiler would be on less as that radiator wouldn't be calling for heat, so yes it would save money, as would turning all the radiators down by just one notch:)The person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0 -

Our bills have gone down considerably since we had new boiler and thermostatic valves fitted to all the radiators. It means I can just turn up the valves in the lounge if I am feeling bit cold rather than for the whole house. And couple are turned right down as rooms not used. HTHs0 -

It will save some money - the other rooms will heat quicker and/or the boiler will complete a heat cycle quicker.
..Unless it's the radiator heating the room the thermostat is in but those are usually fixed to fully on.#CHEEKY :cool:0 -
I think I would rather sponsor you.
10k how far is that in miles?
I used to be able to do that easily, and I could probably still walk it quite easily but my knees sometimes do not appreciate longish walks these days :eek:What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Great, many thanks. In the process getting the underfloor heating removed and radiators in. At the moment each room has a thermostat connected to the underfloor heating. So I can have some rooms hotter or colder than others. Wanted to be able to do the same with radiators too, although there would be no point if it wouldn't save any money.
Thanks for your replies.Pan drawers in 2016 £1500 needed.0 -
