Yes you feel you have to make a big effort for the 21st even though its sort of old fashioned.

a watch is quite a good idea, you could even get it engraved - I think we did that for youngest son last year but he went to get the one he wanted from Argos - very high tech outdoor persons type with attitude, compass etc - he has always got his watches from Argos because he always gets the insurance, has a very bad record with damaging watches.

Mind you eldest child does not have a watch and has never felt the need for one because she has always got her phones with her so would get no benefit from a watch

so the budget is under £250 or under £100??? unless a very good idea comes up.

as a student is he OK for electronics - tablets and phones etc?

have you had a look on livingsocial and groupon for some ideas - maybe an activity that he might like to try eg paragliding or kayaking?

maybe a young persons railcard - you can get 3 year ones? Eldest child also got free YHA membership with hers.

do they eat out a lot - maybe a Tastecard?

    Wow!

    Thanks for all the thoughts.

He has had a new laptop and new iphone in the last few months and gets a railcard free with his NatWest bank account. He has never worn a watch before, so I was surprised. Will have to have a discussion on what type, he has narrow wrists so anything too big will look stupid. I did suggest he waits for the new Apple watch, but he doesn't want one.

Womble did give a small amount vs T... Is there any way that the 65p each items below are on mbuy instore and that they are somehow a mix and match between them that isn't giving the mbuy saving instore? They clearly are not showing an mbuy between them on msm else that would have been picked up.

    2 x Heinz Simply Parsnip & Potato 4mth+ (120g)£1.30N/A
    1 x Heinz Simply Peas & Courgettes 4mth+ (120g)£0.65N/A

1 x Heinz Mum's Own Chicken with Garden Vegetable 4mth...£0.65N/A
    1 x Heinz Mum's Own Cheesy Tomato Pasta 4mth+ (120g)£0.65£0.65

    1 x Heinz Mum's Own Cauliflower & Broccoli Cheese 4mth...£0.65N/A

11 of these are in the 12 for £6 offer - the pork casserole is 65p, no multibuy.

Can you post the Morries comparison please Savvy. Thanks :)
  • I see that the Udi's are showing as oos for Tesco on mys. I wonder how long they will still compare for.
